Organizers
1. Does it cost organizers to use Social Betty?
There are no costs for organizers to use the Social Betty website. Creating an account, posting events, and making contact with venues are FREE.
2. Do organizers have to pay venues to use their space?
That’s up to the organizers and venues. The basic idea of using Social Betty is to avoid or reduce typical food and beverage minimums, and deposits. However, it is reasonable for venues to expect deposits on hosted food and beverage, and some private space options. Venues are ultimately competing for organizers’ business; therefore, organizers should have leverage in creating the arrangements they want – even at no cost.
3. What if venues request food and beverage minimums, deposits or contracts? Is this required?
Some may require these, but others may not. The organizer can choose the venue they decide to work with. The wisest venues will openly receive groups looking to purchase food and beverages onsite. However, it is reasonable to expect to pay deposits on hosted food and beverage, and some private space options. Choose a venue that best fits your needs and means. If one venue requires these and it doesn’t fit your plan, consider finding another venue.
4. What if I have to change my event details?
Organizers need to communicate immediately with any venue that they are corresponding or making arrangements with. Any changes made after a venue has replied may alter their interest.
5. What if I need to cancel my event with a venue?
Again, it is important for organizers to communicate immediately with any venue that they are making or have made arrangements with. Cancellations, especially last-minute ones, can damage an organizer’s reputation with venues and have a negative affect on their feedback score. Not to mention, it can have a negative affect on a venues operations (e.g., scheduling appropriate staff, reserving space, etc.).
How an organizer handles the situation through communication can make a positive difference. Some venues may also have a cancellation policy that organizers must agree to abide by in order to use their establishment.
6. Do I have to respond to all the venues that show interest in my event?
No, it’s up to the organizer to decide who they want to communicate with and where they want to have their event. Just remember to only make final arrangements with one venue.
